DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME STARTS SUNDAY, MARCH 14 AT 2 A.M.
Don’t forget to turn your clocks forward one hour
The weekend most Canadians spring forward one hour is also the ideal time to tackle seasonal safety projects. A lot of the routine maintenance on your home and car should be done twice a year, so what better time to start checking items off your “to-do” list?

The Hon. Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development and Mines and Forestry, visited the site of the Terrace Bay Cultural Centre project to announce a contribution of $311,300 on behalf of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation and the McGuinty Government. The NOHFC contribution is 1/6 of the total project costs of $1.86 million and builds on previous contributions of $622,000 from the Federal portion of the Building Canada Fund and $622,000 from the Provincial portion of the Building Canada Fund. The project is developing its final engineered drawings and will be entering construction in October 2009 with the majority of work expected to be completed over the Winter. The renovation is expected to create 26 construction jobs in the short-term and in the long-term will greatly enhance the building and improve overall energy efficiency. Mayor Michael King praised the commitment of the various levels of government to making this project possible. Chief Administrative Officer Carmelo Notarbartolo recognized the commitment of the library board and CEO Mary Deschatalets, the Superior Seniors Club and representatives Joan Clark and Doug Roberts, and Terrace Bay Municipal Staff.
